Showing Our Support for Wales & Welsh Produce


With last month’s Organic September educating people around the world about organic food and farming practices, Porc.Wales continues to highlight the hard work that the suppliers of porc from Wales do – day in, day out.

With the Rugby World Cup now in full swing in Japan; we’re working to champion the sustainability as well as the health benefits of porc, with our #TryPorc social media campaign. After a very interesting few days at this year’s Royal Welsh Show, it’s fair to say that there was still plenty of room to inform the public about their local farmers and suppliers – as well as showing them how truly tasty a porc dish can be.

Earlier this year, former Wales rugby legend Scott Quinnell shouted about his love of porc, “We’ve got amazing farmers and amazing producers in Wales. The more we can use local products, the more sustainability we can have”. Esteemed Restaurant Critic Simon Wright, followed suit, “we’re not massive pork producers… we don’t have that industrial-sized pork production. But what that does mean is that we’ve got small herds looked after really, really well – by people who care.”

Throughout the #TryPorc campaign, we’ll be sending foodies from across Wales hampers of porc – featuring some of the leanest and healthiest cuts — so they can try it for themselves, as well as sharing our wealth of recipes online. Our friends and Porximity members, Red Valley Farms from Carmarthen, will be supplying the goods!

Professional Chef Luke Thomas also used porc from Wales in his burger recipe during our Ready, Steady, Porc competition at this year’s Royal Welsh.



He says, “Working with Porc.Wales for a number of years, I’ve really supported Welsh farming and Welsh produce, and try to champion that wherever I’m cooking or working”.
